Environment has a big impact on building habits. The environment where you live can help you if you want something. For example, if you want to improve your eating habits, make healthy food accessible for yourself. In case you want to reduce the time spent using a smartphone, put the device far away from you while working.

Another crucial thing is your identity. Do not pay too much attention to what you need but rather concentrate on who you want to be. For instance, say “I am a person that cares about fitness” rather than “I want to exercise.”

Finally, one should eliminate friction. The less energy it takes to do something, the easier it will be to maintain the habit. Think about it and prepare everything you need in advance. Plan and lay out clothes for training the day before or do some planning.
